Billings Farm & Museum Earns Agri-Mark Top Quality Award for Jersey Milk

WOODSTOCK, VERMONT...Billings Farm & Museum is proud to announce that its Jersey herd, known for producing rich, high-butterfat milk, has earned the Agri-Mark Top Quality Award, placing first among 25 farms in Region 7.

This recognition, by the premier dairy farm cooperative in the Northeast highlights Billings Farm’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of dairy stewardship and reflects consistently outstanding results across three critical milk-quality measures related to cow health, equipment sanitation and cleanliness, and proper milk handling.

“These scores truly reflect the care behind every step of our process,” said Phil Ranney, Farm Manager at Billings Farm & Museum. “Billings Farm is exceptionally proud to receive this Top Quality Award for our Jersey milk. Every day we focus on cow comfort, sanitary milking procedures, and constant quality checks on the equipment to ensure its operating properly. I would like to recognize the farm team for their dedication to excellence.”

Billings milk is used in the production of Cabot Creamery products which are sold throughout the Northeast. Billings Farm milk is also used to produce three distinctive cheeses: Butter Cheddar, Billings Farm Reserve, and Smoked Cheddar, available at Billings Farm and in retail many area outlets.

“Folks who visit Billings Farm & Museum get to see our pastures, meet our cows, observe the milking process, and then get to taste our cheese. They get to experience a food system and understand our farm’s role in it,” says Charlene Peavey, Billings Farm Cheese Manager. “Every purchase of Billings Farm cheese helps support our farm as well as our education programs, and special events!”

Billings Farm & Museum is open to the public year-round, welcoming guests to meet the Jersey herd, explore the working dairy barn, and enjoy cow, milking, and butter-making programs that offer an up-close look at modern and historic dairy practices.
