The Science of Brewing Beer
The Science of Brewing Beer
Sunday, February 12, 1–4:30 p.m. & Sunday, March 18, 1–4 p.m.
Join us for this special opportunity to learn to brew your own beer while gaining a greater understanding of the science behind fermentation. During the first class, Scott Russell, Vermont Home Brew Guru and Manager of the Homebrew Department of the South Royalton Market, will lead us in preparing a batch of beer while Lori Bergeron, a biology professor at New England College and home brewer will fill us in on the microbiology and science of brewing beer. We will meet five weeks later when the beer will be ready to bottle (and take home). Scott will again lead us through the necessary steps. Following the bottling session we will head over to the brewery at the Norwich Inn for a tour with Brewmaster Jeremy Hebert followed by a tasting of his beers. If you have been wanting to try brewing your own beer at home, but not quite sure where to start, or just enjoy beer and want to learn more about the process, then this fun and informative class is the place for you!
