Born in the USA, raised overseas, educated in a foreign language and culture, Stephen has a unique perspective on the environmental, cultural, economic, and geopolitical challenges of our time. His work focuses on how cultural values and national histories and mythologies shape our relationships to the world we live in and the diverse societies with which we share it. He is particularly interested in the history and mythology of the American Frontier, and how it shapes the American worldview to this day.
