Science on Tap – Montshire After Hours events are open to adults 21+ and include short presentations by guest speakers, open exhibits, and a cash bar (wine and beer) provided by the Norwich Inn. Tickets are $10/person (includes one complementary drink) and are available at the door. The Museum doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the featured scientist speaking at 7 p.m. The Museum remains open following the speaker until 9 p.m.
Dr. Mikucki is a microbiologist specializing in microbes that live underneath the Antarctic ice sheets. These microbes have survived millions of years in the pitch dark under glacial ice surviving by metabolizing iron and sulfur. By studying microbes that survive in such extreme environments, Dr. Mikucki’s work sheds light into the field of astrobiology—how and where life may exist on other planets. Dr. Mikucki is an Assistant Professor in the Earth Studies Department at Dartmouth College.
