Give Thanks, Share & Learn at Billings Farm & Museum’s
WOODSTOCK, VERMONT... Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend at Billings Farm & Museum, where holiday traditions, baking, and hands-on fun come together. Join us for A Family Thanksgiving, Friday, November 28 – Sunday, November 30 from 10:00AM – 4:00PM for a joyful family experience.
The 1890 Farm Manager’s House will be filled with festive bustle as the table is set with holiday dishes from the 1890’s. From 10:00AM – 1:30PM, historic recipes - such as oyster soup, mashed turnips, bread rolls, baked apples, and more - will be authentically prepared in the kitchen, featuring produce harvested from the Billings Farmstead Gardens and Orchard.
Seasonal flavors will come to life throughout the day with apple tasting programs at 12:00PM and 2:00PM, interactive butter-making at 1:00PM, and hands-on pie crust making and tasting from 11:00AM – 3:00PM. Guests can explore culinary history and holiday meals of the past through the “What’s for Dinner” programs at 11:00AM and 3:00PM.
In the historic barn, families are invited to share their own holiday traditions on the Sharing Wall. Children can enjoy sorting and sensory play stations and try a wool-weaving craft. Guests can hop on a horse-drawn wagon ride through the pastures on Friday and Sunday from 11:00AM – 3:00PM. Inside and out, visitors can explore two dynamic exhibitions: Pecks, Pies & Spies, a playful look at Vermont’s apple story, and Art on the Barns, a bold outdoor display of contemporary works across the farm.
To add to the warmth of the weekend, guests can gather around the outdoor fire pits to enjoy hot cocoa, coffee, hot cider, and delicious cider donuts available for purchase in the Museum Gift Shop. Please note that Billings Farm & Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day. https://billingsfarm.org/
Admission includes the Animal Barns, Vermont Farm Life Exhibits, and the Historic House featuring the creamery, the kitchen, and in-home innovations that were considered state-of-the-art for the time, equivalent to today’s smart house. Visitors can meet the farm’s cows, draft horses, sheep, goats, and chickens in the barns and scenic pastures.
