Film Premiere: Land and Legacy of an Art Colony
The documentary film Land and Legacy of an Art Colony tells the story of America's cultural and environmental leaders who gathered around Augustus Saint-Gaudens during the Gilded Age to form the distinguished Cornish Colony. They are some of America's earliest conservationists, landscape architects, and musicians whose legacy includes the Appalachian Trail, America's National Park System, Audubon bird sanctuaries, and public gardens. Through photography, painting, poetry, dance, and music, the film paints an appealing portrait of the creative people who were inspired by a landscape dominated by Mount Ascutney and the Connecticut River. The film is a journey of discovery led by the prominent actor Jonathan Farwell, a Colony descendant. Free and open to the public.
