This five-week course will explore the Earth’s dynamic processes using satellite imagery and your own laptop or home computer.
Learn how to make your own “visualizations” using NASA and NOAA satellite images and gain a better understanding of the Earth’s rhythms. With a focus on climate change, we’ll uncover the seasonal variations of ocean temperatures and changes in arctic ice coverage. Hands-on investigations and readings from New Yorker staff writer Betsy Kolbert’s Field Notes from a Catastrophe will help us better understand the drivers of the Earth’s climate and the impacts of climate change on the Arctic.
