Keep our food dollars in our local communities by preserving the seasonal bounty from your garden or the local farmers market. Preserving is an easy way to enjoy local fruits and vegetables during the winter months, as well as save money at the same time.
Join VINS and Harmony Farm, as we investigate easy methods of turning the summer harvest into food to enjoy throughout the winter. Using local apples, we will explore a variety of preservation methods including using a steam juicer to make apple juice. Participants will be able to go home with samples of homemade applesauce, apple juice and dried apple rings. In partnership with Harmony Farm, Moore's Orchard is donating apples.
Please bring 2 pint-sized containers to take food home!
