The Norwich Bookstore and Norwich Knits presents a book talk with Eve Jacobs-Carnahan and a crafting session! Eve will be discussing craftivism and leading attendees in making their own activist craft, (materials will be provided.) Global Craftivism since the Pussyhats is an anthology that offers a framework for understanding why people turn to textile handwork as a site of repair in a world on the brink and examines how craft expression aligns with political activism in sometimes quirky ways. One chapter explores the Knit Democracy Together project in Vermont and New Hampshire. Eve Jacobs-Carnahan is an artist, civics educator, and creator of Knit Democracy Together. Her narrative sculptures incorporating fiber art use the softness of yarn to invite conversation. She launched the Knit Democracy Together project in 2020 holding knitting circles across New England to increase democracy literacy. National Arts Strategies named her a Creative Community Fellow: New England for 2022. She contributed a chapter to the anthology Global Craftivism: Handcraft Responses to Violence, War, Illness, and Isolation. She lives in Montpelier, Vermont.
