Join us for this monthly series that explores the many facets of gardening. Every month features a new topic that will delve into the fascinating aspects of the plant life around us. Speaker: Judith Schwartz, author Over time more CO2 has gone into the atmosphere from the soil compared to the burning of fossil fuels. Judith Schwartz’s first reaction was, “Why don’t I know this?” Her second was, “If this is true, can carbon be brought back to the soil?” Her book Cows Save the Planet and Other Improbable Ways of Restoring Soil to Heal the Earth looks at soil as a hub for our many environmental, economic and social challenges—and for solutions. Judith Schwartz lives and works on the side of a mountain in southern Vermont. She is a longtime member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists.
