Anthony D'Amato & Paul Catanzaro
Whether you own forestland or simply love the woods, join authors Paul Catanzaro and Anthony D'Amato for an evening exploring the ecological stewardship principles behind Tending Your Forest. This event is co-hosted by Northern Woodlands and Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife. How do you care for the health of your forest? This comprehensive guide empowers landowners with the knowledge to manage a family forest to capture more carbon, encourage wildlife and biodiversity, and build a more resilient future. Tending Your Forest brings a fresh, ecological perspective to forest management, giving landowners the information they need to understand their forests and options for stewarding them in the face of challenges like climate change and invasive species. Landowners from Maine to Maryland and Missouri to Minnesota will learn to restore old- growth characteristics, protect wildlife, sequester carbon, and sustainably harvest trees — and how to preserve their land as a lasting legacy. Paul Catanzaro is a professor in the Forest Ecology and Conservation program at the University of Massachusetts and co-director of the Family Forest Research Center, a partnership of the USDA Forest Service and UMass. For nearly 20 years, he has studied family forest owners to understand their goals and challenges, turning that knowledge into practical outreach resources. Anthony D'Amato is a professor of Silviculture and Applied Forest Ecology and director of the Forestry Program at the University of Vermont, where his research focuses on long-term forest dynamics, disturbance ecology, and silviculture in the context of global change. He has published over 190 peer-reviewed papers and is the author of Ecological Silvicultural Systems.
