DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by the Hartford Prevention Coalition and in part by the Vermont Department of Health.\n\n\n\nDive into an adventure in literacy This February with the Winter Break Comic Book Workshops! Workshops will be\n\ndivided into a morning session geared for grades 2-4 and an afternoon class for grades 5-8. Class size is limited to 15 students per session. Students should bring a bagged lunch. Open to all Upper Valley Residents.\n\n\n\n\n\n**********\n\nWorkshops:\n\n**********\n\nGrades 2-4\n\n9:00 a.m. ?11:00 a.m.\n\nDescription: Hands-on Comics!\n\nYoung artists explore the elements of story structure while creating their own handcrafted comics! Creativity reigns as learners develop their understanding of character\, setting and plot as they engage in fun\, art-integrated activities! Classes will be divided into two 50-minute sessionswith a 20-minute indoor recess period in between.\n\n\n\nGrades 5-8\n\nNoon ?2:00 p.m.\n\nDescription: You?ve got a story to tell!\n\nUpper elementary students will develop their individual ?writer?s voice? as they get busy crafting\n\ntheir own unique mini-comics. We will dig deeper into story structure and discuss how characters?traits\, motivations and actions interact\, as we draw inspiration from a wide variety of Comic genres. Emphasis will be placed on creating a relaxed learning environment where students are encouraged to experiment and enjoy the artistic process.
